This weekend in Jane (#JJ100)
We’re a week from the big Jane’s Walk Weekend here in New York City as well as hundreds of other cities around the world. For a great introduction to how Jane’s Walk began a decade ago in Toronto (where Jane moved to and lived after her departure from NYC) read Nate Storing’s Next City Piece about the Jane’s Walk Project Office.
But, there’s a lot to do and experience this weekend (April 29-May 1) – here’s some of the highlights gleaned from our listings at jj100.org:

- April 29th: The “Jane at Home” exhibit presented in conjunction with the Estate of Jane Jacobs opens at the UrbanSpace Gallery. Runs through May 8th at the UrbanSpace Gallery (Toronto, Canada)
- April 30th: 596 Acres and the Public Space Party are hosting the re-scheduled Gardens are Community, Community Spaces in Jeopardy bike ride on Saturday, April 30th. They’ll start at Elizabeth Street Gardens and ride to four other community gardens that are threatened by development. (New York City: Manhattan and Brooklyn)
- April 30th: Portraits of a Neighborhood at the Whitney Museum of American Art features free outdoor drawing sessions, looking at the “intricate ballet” of the city streets below. 3-6PM (New York City)
